The eurozone posted a trade surplus of 1.3 billion euros (US$1.57 billion) in April, a first estimate published June 22 by the EU statistics agency Eurostat showed.
The figure compared with a revised March surplus of 4.3 billion euros and a 6.8 billion euros surplus in April 2004.
The 25-nation EU chalked up trade deficit of 9.7 billion euros in April compared with a deficit of 6.4 billion euros in March and shortfall of 7.2 billion euros in April 2004.
