Factories in the 12 countries sharing the euro saw demand slow in September after new industrial orders boomed in August, data released Nov. 22 by the EU's Eurostat data agency showed.

New industrial orders slipped 1.3% in September over one month and rose 7.6% over one year. The data marked a slowdown from August when new orders jumped 3.8% over one month and 14.5% over one year.

The monthly decrease was driven by a fall in orders for machinery and equipment, basic metals and fabricated metal products, chemicals and chemical products and textiles and textile products. Meanwhile, orders for electrical and electronic equipment and transport equipment resisted the trend and expanded in September.

In the 25-nation EU, new industrial orders fell 1% in September and grew 7.6% over one year.
