New Novell Data Center Management Release

Aug. 8, 2007
Enhanced feature set debuts at LinuxWorld.

At this week's LinuxWorld Conference in San Francisco, Novell announced the latest versions of its data center management solutions. According to the open source infrastructure software provider, this release increases the flexibility of the Novell ZENworks management solution through a modular approach that allows the high-level orchestration engine, which allocates overall data center resources, to be installed and run separately from more specialized management components including virtual machine management.

Full-lifecycle management for SUSE Linux Enterprise from Novell running Xen virtualization is also available with this version.

These enhancements give customers the ability to leverage virtualization in the data center while helping them lower costs, reduce complexity and mitigate risks in their IT infrastructure.

According to Novell, this version streamlines implementations and gives customers and partners the flexibility to choose which management tools to deploy in the data center. It does this by separating the previously bundled ZENworks Orchestrator from management packs, such as ZENworks Virtual Machine Management.
