Red Hat to expand development base with Eclipse-Based JBoss Developer Studio

First open source development environment combining tooling and runtime for complete application development lifecycles

Raleigh, N.C.-based open source solutions provider Red Hat recently announced the global availability of JBoss Developer Studio, the first open source, Eclipse-based, integrated development environment combining tooling with runtime. According to the company, JBoss Developer Studio provides a simple, stable end-to-end, lifecycle environment for application development and deployment, enabling enterprises to respond more quickly and efficiently to rapidly changing business requirements.

JBoss Developer Studio eliminates the need to assemble individual development environments, allowing developers and IT departments to utilize the complete solution from JBoss in one easily delivered installation. Featuring pre-integrated tools and out-of-the-box capabilities, the solution leverages the high-calibre Eclipse-based developer tools that were first made available in open source on JBoss.org. Since its beta release in August, the company points to over 50,000 downloads of the technologies within Developer Studio, which it says indicates the developer community's interest in an open source and friction-free development platform for developing their applications.
