Tech Scorecard: Oracle Continues Its Acquisitive Ways
Software giant Oracle Corp. has acquired 50 companies in the past four years, which averages out to slightly more than one company every month. In that light, Oracle's pickup of ClearApp, a provider of composite application management software, and Primavera, a vendor of portfolio management solutions, can be chalked up to "business as usual." Financial terms were not disclosed for either acquisition.
The other big news in recent weeks has been Elliott Associates' equity offer for ERP vendor Epicor Software. Elliott has offered $529 million to acquire the company, which Epicor subsequently rejected as insufficient. However, at press time, Elliott has not backed away from the deal. Stay tuned.
