Grainger, Florida Georgia Line to Promote Trades with Concerts
The country music hitmaking duo Florida Georgia Line and industrial product supplier W.W. Grainger Inc. are teaming up to do their part to help plug the industrial-trade skills gap during the Nashville-based group’s upcoming summer concert tour.
Grainger announced today that it will sponsor 20 of Florida Georgia Line’s concerts this summer, and during those tour stops the music duo will pay tribute to students who have been awarded scholarships as part of Grainger’s Tools for Tomorrow scholarship program.
Grainger also recently launched a sweepstakes to give Florida Georgia Line fans a chance to win tickets to the sponsored shows.
Deb Oler, a vice president with Grainger, said the company partnered with Florida Georgia Line because the group’s principal members, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, have had life experiences that mirror those of many of Grainger’s scholarship recipients.
“Brian and Tyler each learned the lessons of hard work and persistence at a young age, and as they got older they learned their way around a toolbox by taking on a variety of jobs during the day as they worked on their music at night,” Oler said. “This sponsorship allows us to celebrate the American worker and raise awareness of exciting careers in the skilled trades.”
Grainger partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges to launch the Tools for Tomorrow program in 2006. Designed to help industrial-trade students realize their educational goals, the program awards scholarships to students entering the final year of their degree curriculum. Since its inception, the program has offered more than 500 scholarships to 100 community colleges around the country.
