IndustryWeek’s cover story from the spring issue won the 2022 Folio: Eddie and Ozzie Awards for best manufacturing article.
Written by Editorial Assistant Anna Smith and Senior Editor Laura Putre (representatives of different generations collaborating for this article), the story gathered a group of manufacturing people from young people starting their careers to seasoned executives to talk about how to bridge age gaps on the factory floor. Art director Tim Driver created custom graphics, including a mosaic-patterned series of images, using photos of manufacturing operations to connect people to process.
Representatives from Parker Hannifin, Sandvik Coromant, Raymond Corp., Flex, Stanley Black & Decker and Onex shared how they collaborate and how best to use the talents and passions of young workers.
“I couldn’t be any prouder of the work that Laura, Anna and Tim put into this project,” said IndustryWeek Editor-in-Chief Robert Schoenberger. “They put together a great panel that really dug deep into important issues about employment, motivation and technology. And, they did a fantastic job of pulling out the most interesting, most relevant parts of that conversation for a great story.”
