Thirty-one food companies earned their way onto the 2017 IndustryWeek US 500, an annual list that ranks the top 500 publicly held U.S. manufacturing companies based on revenue.
Those 31 food producers, led by Archer-Daniels-Midland Co., earned collective revenue of $337.3 billion.
Only four manufacturing categories -- petroleum & coal products, computers & other electronics products, chemicals and machinery -- had a greater number of representative companies on the IW 500 than did the food manufacturers.
