New Coca-Cola Bottling Plant Opens in China

Future investments by Coca-Cola in China will provide 30,000 jobs

Marking its 37th facility in Chian, the Coca-Cola company opened a bottling plant in eastern Jiangxi province on June 23,the Xinhua news agency said.

Costing 100 million yuan (US$14.3 million), it belongs to a joint venture between China National Cereals, Oils & Foodstuffs Imp. & Exp. Corp. (COFCO) and Coca-Cola.

The plant, with an annual capacity of almost 500 million bottles, is in the Xiaolan Economic Development Zone of Nanchang City.

"We have announced a new two-billion-US-dollar investment package from the end of 2008, through to 2011," said Muhtar Kent, CEO Coca-Cola, according to Xinhua.

The investment will provide jobs for more than 30,000 people in China, the news agency said.
