For the second week in a row, a Hyundai Super Bowl 50 ad starring Kevin Hart tops our weekly Most Engaging Auto Ads ranking, powered for WardsAuto by iSpot.tv.
Three other Super Bowl 50 ads also appear on our list, not surprising given that this 7-day view (Feb. 8-14) includes the day after the Super Bowl, when everyone was talking about the best ads during the big game.
Honda’s “New Truck to Love” spot drops from second to fifth place, while another celebrity-driven Hyundai spot, “Ryanville,” starring Ryan Reynolds, moves up from third to second place.
A Toyota Prius ad, “The Longest Chase,” which didn't make the Top 5 last time, takes third place, knocking Audi’s Super Bowl 50 ad out of the ranking.
Like last week, the one non-Super Bowl exception is an older Mazda MX-5 Miata commercial that Mazda recently put back into heavy rotation. It holds steady in fourth place.
Overall, automakers spent an estimated $94.1 million on national TV advertising for the week through Sunday. As expected, that is down massively from the previous 7-day tally of $158.9 million, which included Super Bowl Sunday.
