Oberon Software Inc. and Primavera Systems Inc. have created an integrated system designed to streamline tasks such as contract management, cost analysis, requisitions, and change orders for those in construction and engineering.
Called Prospero Expedition Building Block, the software enables users of Primavera's Expedition to integrate their activities with hundreds of third-party software applications. For instance, it provides a smooth connection between the Expedition contract control module and many popular desktop and business applications, such as those in Microsoft Office at the desktop level, or to accounting systems from J. D. Edwards at the server level.
"Project managers have little time to develop a proficiency in each of the disparate applications they use for keeping jobs under control," observes Joel Koppelman, president of Primavera, based in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. "Application integration removes the need for training, protects legacy investments, and gives managers fast access to all the data necessary for administering projects efficiently."
