Compiled ByTravis Hessman A survey developed by Menlo Park, Calif.-based RHI Management Resources consulting services indicates that 36% of chief financial officers (CFOs) believe that golf is good for business. The survey sample consisted of 1,400 randomly selected CFOs of U.S. companies, who were asked, "How important do you feel it is for business professionals to play golf in order to enhance their careers?" Six percent of the executives listed golf as "very important," and 30% said it was "somewhat important." "Career success depends largely on an individual's professional abilities, but networking and involvement in social activities -- like playing golf -- can help build stronger business relationships and provide a valuable forum for informal meetings with colleagues," says Paul McDonald, executive director of RHI Management Resources.
