The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Assn. (VPPPA) has planned four application workshops to assist plants around the U.S. that are in the process of preparing for the VPPPA recognition. The programs, administered by OSHA, federal and several state governments, and the Dept. of Energy, are a cooperative effort among labor, management, and government. Acceptance into VPPPA requires safety and health programs that exceed agency safety and health standards. Sites participating in the program have overall lost workday rates 50% below the industry average. More than 500 U.S. worksites are participants, and more than 750,000 workers in the U.S. are directly impacted by the program. Application workshops offered: Feb. 28 to 29, Albuquerque; May 18, San Diego; June 9, Atlantic City, N.J.; and June 21, Hershey, Pa. Call Julie Phillips at 703/761-1146 for more information.
