SAP AG, the leader in the enterprise software market, doesn't want its customers to have to reinvent the wheel every time they install an SAP package. By introducing SAP Best Practices for mySAP.com, the Walldorf, Germany-based software giant now offers a set of preconfigured software containing key industry-specific business knowledge and content needed to perform e-commerce transactions. The idea is to enable companies to benefit from the experience of other firms in their industry. Some companies that already are using SAP Best Practices include Owens-Corning, Steelcase Inc., Schering AG, and Siemens Business Services GmbH & Co. OHG. "SAP Best Practices feature an integrated approach that provides customers of any industry and size, as well as partners and solution providers, with business expertise tailored for evaluation and implementation requirements in a specific industry," says Gerhard Oswald, an executive board member of SAP AG. "As a result, SAP Best Practices allow mySAP.com customers to shorten the time devoted to evaluation and implementation and provide a perfect transition between these two phases." One company that used SAP Best Practices is German automotive supplier Erich Jaeger GmbH & Co. KG. "It was important for our implementation project that the industry solution based on SAP Best Practices for Automotive included all industry-specific business processes and additional applications, such as inter-enterprise communication, right from the start," says Karl-Heinz Gloe, managing director at the automotive supplier. "We used the preconfigured best business practices to identify ways to optimize our business processes and go live with them quickly."
