ByJohn S. McClenahen The new director of the National Economic Council (NEC) in the White House is Allan B. Hubbard, the president of Indianapolis-based E&A Industries Inc., a privately held investment firm that acquires established manufacturing companies. In his new job, Hubbard, who also carries the title of Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, will coordinate economic policymaking and monitor its implementation throughout the federal government. The NEC was created in 1993 during the Clinton Administration. Hubbard succeeds banker Stephen Friedman as NEC director.
