Compiled ByDeborah Austin A recent survey asked business travelers -- who are spending more time in airports due to heightened security and resulting downtimes and delays -- to rank which airports best serve their needs while they're waiting. The winners:
  • Airline clubs: Denver International rated high for its Red Carpet Club with conference space and catered meals; Chicago O'Hare for Delta's Crown Room Club with fax machines, desk and meeting space.
  • Food: Tampa International, Dallas-Fort Worth International and Pittsburgh International ranked tops for quick meal possibilities. Minneapolis-St. Paul International, Reagan Washington National and Los Angeles International got kudos for unique restaurants.
  • Retail shops: Philadelphia International led the list.
  • Internet access: San Francisco International and Los Angeles International ranked best for quality and quantity.
  • Workout facilities: Pittsburgh International rated high.
  • Overall convenience: Sacramento International and Providence, R.I.'s T.F. Green Airport garnered praise for manageable size, friendly atmosphere and quick service. The survey was conducted by E-Travel Inc., Waltham, Mass., which provides hosted technology services for enterprise travel management. It was an email survey conducted during two weeks in October, and it garnered about 100 responses.
