New technology assessment services are now offered via UVentures.com, an intellectual property portal for listing and licensing new technologies. Assessment is provided through the Robert C. Byrd National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC), Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, W. Va., which was established by Congress to strengthen American industry by providing access to more than $70 billion worth of federally funded research. The Center has grown into a full-service technology commercialization center providing technology commercialization training, technology assessment, and assistance in finding strategic business partners. Currently UVentures.com holds 3,700 technologies available for licensing from institutions worldwide. Prospective licensees can browse the technology database for specific technology opportunities and request the market-opportunity assessment for the technology through the NTTC.
