Compiled ByTravis Hessman Canton, Ohio-based Timken Co. and Bardella, São Paulo, are forming a joint venture to provide industrial services to the steel and aluminum industries in Brazil. The new services company, Bardella Timken Industrial Services, will be developed in an existing Bardella facility in Guarulhos, near São Paulo. Its services will include repair and engineering for rolling mill components, overhead crane maintenance, and contract operation of mill roll maintenance shops. "With the recent privatization of the mill industry in Brazil, there is greater opportunity to deliver to mill operators customized services and engineering solutions aimed at reducing their costs," says Michael C. Arnold, president, Industrial, Timken. The Timken Co., which employs 20,500 workers, manufactures highly engineered bearings, alloy, and specialty steels and components. Bardella, which employs 1,700 workers, serves the steel, aluminum, hydroelectric power, and mining industries with industrial equipment manufacturing, site erection, and installation services.
