Moldflow Corp., a producer of process-wide plastics simulation software, recently donated $4.5 million to the Plastics Engineering Dept. of the University of Massachusetts Lowell's Francis College of Engineering. The academic grant is Moldflow's largest, and will be used for the creation of the Moldflow Computer Simulation Laboratory and the establishment of a Moldflow Endowed Scholarship fund. "The Francis College of Engineering at U-Mass Lowell is renowned for excellence," says Moldflow CEO and president Marc Dulude. "Its plastics engineering programs continue to produce talent that ranks among the world's best and brightest." The university offers the only ABET-accredited plastics engineering undergraduate degree program in the nation. The Moldflow Computer Simulation Laboratory is scheduled for dedication on Feb. 24. The facility will feature Moldflow technology used by plastic part designers, molders, and manufacturers. In conjunction with the new facility, Moldflow has established an industrial speakers series through which Moldflow engineers and executives will assist students in the laboratory and provide insight on current events in the plastics industry.
