Compiled ByTravis Hessman In keeping with its commitment to grow its high-tech product sales, restructure its portfolio, and diversify its customer base, Troy, Mich.-based Delphi Automotive Systems announced the creation of a "new markets" business unit. Under the direction of Atul Pasricha, the new unit will apply the company's core technologies in related business sectors to accelerate the shift and expand the high-tech product line. Delphi says the restructuring is in line with its 2001 portfolio management strategy that pledges an intensified focus on its technology-rich product segment. "We believe we can accelerate our progress with aggressive growth business lines and extract more value from our significant product portfolio through a coordinated new market growth initiative," says Delphi's Chief Financial Officer, Alan Dawes. In his new position as executive director, Pasricha role is to create strategic direction to profitably expand Delphi's new markets and remove barriers to ensure rapid technology-to-market introduction.
