Compiled ByDeborah Austin Global telecom manufacturer/supplier Ericsson is teaming with Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., and Lund University in Lund, Sweden to launch a new "fast-track" joint research program, working on supply-chain management issues especially relevant to the telecom and Internet industries. The program will bring together doctoral students at the universities with senior Ericsson supply-chain and logistics specialists on projects with planned six-month cycles. The aim: to yield practical results faster than the typical four-years-plus of doctoral dissertations. Ericsson plans a yearly $1 million investment over the next five years in the program, dubbed the "Ericsson Supply Chain Academy." Ericsson, with sales of 273.6 billion Swedish kroners, is headquartered in Stockholm.
