Charles Benoit
Charles is an experienced trade attorney, having represented clients on international trade issues in federal court and before the USITC, as well as advocacy for trade enforcement before USTR.
Charles was one of three American attorneys hired as outside counsel by the European Commission to advise on U.S. law for the U.S.-EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations. Prior to that, Charles worked as in-house trade counsel for General Electric, supporting GE’s engagements on trade policy and helping GE businesses navigate Buy America procurement rules.
Charles received his B.A.Hons. from the University of Western Ontario, and his J.D. from Georgetown University. While at Georgetown, Charles interned at the Canadian Embassy, supporting its Trade Policy officers, and was accepted as a student fellow with Georgetown Law’s Institute of International Economic Law.
Prior to law school, Charles lived and worked abroad in Canada, India, and France.
