'America Makes' (AM) Program Agenda Attracts Innovation

American Foundry Society (AFS) is one of several partners in the “America Makes” initiative. The increased access to the necessary equipment and developing design guidelines and process specifications is paying off.
“America Makes” (AM) technology is a confluence of three scientific realms: computer, mechanical, and material engineering. With the results of three decades of computer engineering advances, 3-D printers, the metals and other materials capable of ‘printing,’ the Wohlers Associates consulting group is reporting that finished parts represented 28.3% of the $2.2 billion spent last year on 3-D printing products and services.
