IndustryWeek Profile of Oshkosh Corp. CIO Anupam Khare Named Finalist for Neal Award
“Leading the Technology Charge at Oshkosh,” an article from the fall issue of IndustryWeek, is one of four finalists for a Jesse H. Neal Award, a national recognition for specialized and business-related reporting.
Written by Technology Editor Dennis Scimeca, the story profiles Anupam Khare, chief information officer at defense contractor Oshkosh Corp. Unlike many business profiles that focus on a leader’s personality or background, “Leading the Technology Charge” married Khare’s discussion of business strategies with the operational leaders tasked with executing his vision.
For example, Khare said, “We never came up with a grand strategy. We came up with a bigger vision, but we … found champions [and said] let’s solve their problem—for example onboarding manufacturing employees through augmented reality and virtual reality.”
Scimeca followed that comment up by interviewing Eric Mellott, senior manager for continuing improvement and operations training, about how that broad business strategy informed how his group embraced virtual reality (VR) systems.
Winners of the 2023 awards will be announced in April. The article had been in the Member’s Only section of the IndustryWeek website, where all magazine features have been running.
