Bookshelf: Supply Chain Excellence: A Handbook for Dramatic Improvement Using the SCOR Model, 2nd Edition
The genius of the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) definition of supply chain management is that it simplifies the complexities of SCM down to five simple terms that everybody can agree on: plan, source, make, deliver, return.
The full-blown SCOR model itself, however, is quite comprehensive in scope, spanning various levels from operations strategy (Level 1) to phased implementation (Level 4). In effect, the SCOR model combines business process reengineering with benchmarking, best practices and process measurement, resulting in something resembling a framework for executing a supply chain project.
Setting the book at a fictionalized manufacturing company, authors Bolstorff (a SCOR consultant) and Rosenbaum (publisher of IndustryWeek's sister publication, American Machinist) guide the reader through the step-by-step process of launching a supply chain transformation.
