PACCAR Inc. unveiled plans for a new $400 million, 400,000 square-foot powertrain manufacturing and assembly facility and Technology Center ito be located in Southeast United States. PACCAR says the facility will be its most technologically advanced facility. "The manufacturing facility will be configured for maximum flexibility to supply products and components to PACCAR facilities and customers on a global basis," said Tom Plimpton, president.
PACCAR manufactures light, medium and heavy-duty trucks the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF brands.
CEO Mark Pigott cites the company's new initiatives such as its diesel-electric hybrids, remote vehicle diagnostics and software development as contributing to the company's financial success.
"The $400 million investment in PACCAR's newest facility complements the $2.5 billion invested over the last ten years to accelerate award-winning product development, Six Sigma implementation, customer after sales support and dynamic information technology programs in our capital goods and financial services markets," said Plimpton.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2009.
