(OPIC), a federal agency that provides political risk insurance and financing to help U.S. companies invest in developing markets, is creating a new department focusing on small and medium-size business. The department -- dubbed the Small and Medium Enterprise Department -- will include the existing Small Business Center, which assists small businesses with annual revenues under $35 million. The department also will be responsible for OPIC's Direct Loan Program, which provides financing to small and medium-size U.S. business with annual revenues below $250 million.
