And that's why the so-called G7 (Group of Seven) has grown into the G8. Now French President Jacques Chirac wants to make it the G9, by adding China to the group of leaders that meets periodically to address global economic issues. This possible expansion comes despite grumblings that including Russia might have been a mistake because it lacks economic sophistication and power.
