Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, Wash., have a novel solution for information overload: software that presents information in a visual format. It can analyze large volumes of text, documents, and Web pages and display related documents and themes as star topic clusters in a night sky and/or as themes within terrain maps. To commercialize the concept, the lab, operated by Battelle Memorial Institute, has spun off a new company, ThemeMedia Inc., Redmond, Wash.
