Microsoft To Add Enterprise Project Support From eLabor.com

ByDoug Bartholomew Microsoft Corp.'s next version of its Project family of software will include enterprise project management capabilities from eLabor.com, a maker of workforce management systems. The Camarillo, Calif., software firm's Enterprise Project system includes a host of benefits for project managers. Among them are:

Multi-level portfolio planning, enabling a variety of projects to be managed in the context of the enterprise.

Skills-based resource management, which helps ensure that the appropriate resources are available to bring the project in on time and within budget.

Top-down, roll-up budgeting to improve tracking of costs and contingency planning.

Executive-level decision support offering enterprise-wide snapshots of budget costs, capacity, performance, and revenue projections. "More and more of our customers are demanding project management solutions that include enterprise resource management and decision support," says Todd Warren, general manager of Microsoft Project at Microsoft in Redmond, Wash. "By incorporating eLabor.com's technology, Microsoft will now offer a broader range of enterprise-level project management tools such as resource scheduling and portfolio management."
