Enterprise software firm Syspro has announced a new forecasting module, the first of three modules that will comprise the Syspro Inventory Optimization Solution. The complete solution is expected to debut at the close of 2004, the company says. The new forecasting module performs forecasting at the item/warehouse level, as well as aggregations of forecasting to higher levels. The module takes into account seasonality and removes outliers and anomalies. Module users will be able to define calendars, forecast horizons, and monthly or weekly time buckets. Users also can override forecasts in response to market intelligence. The module stores three or more years of history to facilitate analysis. The forecasting module allows the use of a variety of forecasting algorithms, including predefined algorithms or a competition method where the system uses the mathematical formula best suited to an item's historical sales. Syspro says its complete inventory solution will be comprised of forecasting, groups and families, and optimizer modules. Syspro's U.S. headquarters are in Costa Mesa, Calif.
