Mental Floss recently republished a fascinating graphic called "The Corporate States of America." Created a couple years ago by designer Steve Lovelace, the graphic is a U.S. map that depicts each state's most archetypal corporate brand. It's a highly subjective list and thus a surefire argument-starter.
Manufacturing is by far the No. 1 industry sector populating "The Corporate States of America." Twenty-six states' brands are owned by manufacturing companies. Restaurants and retail are tied for No. 2, representing eight states each.
